Mr Smith Goes To Tokyo

Managed to get hold of this for SUNAO over in Tokyo, to be used on his 650 project, already calibrated for a Triumph gearbox drive it should look sweet when mounted.

This was posted, normal parcel post, at noon on Friday and there was an e-mail saying it arrived Tuesday morning! I have waited two weeks for an envelope from the States on numerous occasions.

Digging The Past

Got hold of a copy of the 1957 TriCor catalogue recently, and it contains some very rare birds indeed. At the bottom you can see a Delta Head for USD 103! This is the first documented evidence I have seen for this head as a stand alone accessory and it is shown with two left hand monoblocs fitted, probably wouldn't have thought that without seeing it.

If 103 bucks was too rich rich for your blood, how about CP162? A complete tacho kit, including the timing cover and the tacho itself for a smidge under 55 dollars!

Is it better to know this information, or is ignorance bliss?

Q-Bikes

Q-ships, also known as Q-boats, decoy vessels, special service ships, or mystery ships, were heavily armed merchant ships with concealed weaponry, designed to lure submarines into making surface attacks. This gave Q-ships the chance to open fire and sink them. The basic ethos of every Q-ship was to be a wolf in sheep's clothing.

That's what it says on Wikipedia any way, think about that when ya have a look at Martin's pre-waralike Trumpet.

The First Cut Is The Deepest

I put a wanted ad on a forum looking for a timing cover with a tacho drive and after a few days a guy has come back and offered to take this one off of this bike.

Of course the best outcome would be to buy the bike complete, but the logistics of bringing it half way 'round the world make that difficult. If he's breaking it (parting it out) anyway I don't have a problem, but if taking the cover off is the beginning of the end for this old war horse then I'm not so sure it's the right thing to do.

Another Fine Job From The Croydon Mafia

Jimmy handles most of the paint down at The Baron's, and he's just put the finishing touches on his very tidy six and a half rigid.

Dick built up the drive train and gave direction and encouragement. The quality of the build these boys pull out of the bag is amazing. Bit like chefs I suppose, you can give 'em all the same ingredients but they all won't come up with the same flavour and taste.

Anybody Got One Of These Under The Bench?

Had a bit of an urge lately to run a rev counter, be a bit different and all that.

Problem is, I can't find one of these...................any offers to the mail addy in the upper left hand of this page please.

Well I never knew that!

Watching an early front wheel on that well known auction site, and amongst the pictures was this. It's a 19" Dunlop rim, as fitted at Meriden, but the W351 stamp is the Triumph part number! So next time you're cutting a hub out of a wheel look for this mark, I reckon the resto boys would pay a premium for this extra bit of originality.
